Missing Indian soldier’s ‘bullet-ridden’ body found in Kashmir’s Anantnag
The dead body of a missing Indian soldier was recovered in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday evening (Oct 8). According to media reports, the soldier’s body was found in Sanglan forest area after he went missing from Anantnag. The body of the Territorial Army officer was found riddled with bullets, according to news agency ANI.
The officer has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam in Anantnag.
Earlier, local police and army had launched a massive search operation to locate Hilal.
Investigation is underway to find out how he went missing and who is behind his killing.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army earlier wrote on X, “Based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorist operation was launched by Indian Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies in Kazwan Forest Kokernag on 08 October. Operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing. Massive rescue and search operation is in progress.”
It must be noted that two Territorial Army soldiers were abducted by terrorists in Anantnag’s forest area on Oct 8. While the other soldier managed to escape, Bhat turned out to be down on his luck.
