Ratan Tata once said he wanted ‘to be remembered as…’ His words have now gone viral
As India mourns the loss of Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of India’s biggest conglomerate Tata Group, his words about how he wanted the world to remember him have now gone viral on social media platforms.
While giving an interview, Tata said that he always wanted people to remember him as someone who worked towards ensuring the best interest of business.
“I would like to be remembered as somebody who had never hurt others and done work to the best interest of business,” Tata said when he interacted with the Ladies Study Group of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata in 2014.
In another interview with columnist and actor Suhel Seth on CNBC in 2018, the philanthropist said, “I would like to be remembered as a person who made a difference. Not anything more not anything less.”
“…..As a person who is able to make a change, who is able to be responsible for some change in the way we looked at things,” he said in an interview in 2021.

Ratan Tata was 86. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital because of age-related ailments and was moved to the ICU later where he breathed his last on Wednesday (Oct 9) evening.
In 1991, Tata took over as Tata Group’s chairman and looked after the conglomerate created by his great-grandfather.
Tata was also known for his philanthropic activities and humility. His visionary leadership and business acumen were widely respected by the entire industry and even world leaders.

He was active on social media platforms like X and Instagram. On Instagram, he had nearly 10.3 million followers and followed only two accounts: the Small Animal Hospital, Mumbai, and Tata Trusts.
On X, he was following seven people which included businessman Anand Mahindra, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US former president Barrack Obama and Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai and had 13.3 million followers.
He was born on December 28, 1937, and graduated in architecture and structural engineering from Cornell University. Tata later completed a management program at Harvard Business School.
