IIT graduate moves from Indian Railways to SpaceX, his LinkedIn profile goes viral
The LinkedIn profile of a mechanical engineer went viral after it was shared on social media platform X to draw attention to the unique journey of the man who had worked for the Indian Railways for more than 11 years and has now been employed by Elon Musk-owned Space X.
In the LinkedIn profile which went viral on social media platforms, the entire work experience of Sanjeev Sharma, who is a principal engineer currently at SpaceX, was seen.
“Indian Railways for 11 years to now at SpaceX is some next-level stuff,” read the caption.
IIT graduate’s ‘next-level’ journey
In the LinkedIn profile, it can be seen that Sharma graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and worked as a mechanical engineer with the Indian Railways from 1990 to 2001.
After that, he pursued his master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado and for nine years worked as a senior engineer at a technology company for more than nine years. He then got another master’s degree in technology management.
After completing the degree, Sharma started working at SpaceX as a Dynamic Engineer for five years.
“Worked on recovery and reuse ability of the first stage booster starting from F9-005 to F9-0059. Led the structural dynamics effort working closely with aerodynamics, GNC, propulsion and thermal,” read his profile.
He then joined another drone company for four years, after which he returned to SpaceX, where he is currently positioned as a principal engineer.
“Experienced Head Of Engineering with a demonstrated history of working in the aviation and aerospace industry,” read his profile bio.

The Indian mechanical engineer’s career stunned many netizens who appreciated his success.
“Working in Indian Railways for 11 yrs and then making a jump to a private entity, itself is commendable. Not many can resist the comfort and predictability of govt jobs,” commented one user.
“This what patience looks like. A career of 20 years before joining Space X,” wrote another user.
“Man took a promotion in the worst phase economically over the entire globe aka 2008,” stated a third user.
