Afghanistan: Taliban taps $1 trillion mineral wealth

Afghanistan is sitting on an estimated $1 trillion worth of untapped mineral resources, according to U.S. and UN assessments. Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, around 200 mining contracts worth billions of dollars have been signed, mostly with local companies.
