Canadian Police arrest Khalistani terrorist Arsh Dalla, close aide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar
The Canadian Police have arrested Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, on Sunday, November 10, according to NDTV report citing sources.
Dalla, a close aide of slain Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, is one of the most-wanted criminals in India and has been living in Canada with his wife. He was detained in connection with a shootout in Canada on October 27-28, according to reports.
Who is Arsh Dalla?
Arshdeep Singh Gill, also known as Arsh Dalla, was born in Ludhiana and was named a terrorist by the Indian government in 2023. He is seen as the successor of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in Canada last year.
Dalla is the acting chief of the Khalistani Tiger Force, a terrorist organisation. He is accused of various nefarious crimes, including murder, target killings, and extortion, according to Indian intelligence agencies. He is also accused of large-scale smuggling of drugs and weapons across borders, terror funding, and other crimes.
Recently, India’s Punjab Police arrested two key operatives of the Canada-based gangster in connection with the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau in the state’s Faridkot district the previous month.
Another man, Jaswant Singh Gill, 45, was also murdered in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district by the two on Dalla’s order.
India-Canada diplomatic row
Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in Surrey, last year in June, stirring the diplomatic tensions between the two countries. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian agents of Nijjar’s murder.
Last month, Canadian authorities named Indian envoy Sanjay Verma among other diplomats as “persons of interest” in connection to Nijjar’s killing, prompting the Indian government to recall them. India also expelled six Canadian diplomats, condemning Canadian authorities.
