Ratan Tata slams ‘rumours’ of hospitalisation, asks people to refrain from ‘spreading misinformation’
Amid reports of his deteriorating health, veteran Indian industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata on Monday (Oct 7) announced that he was well and the claims of him being admitted to the hospital in serious condition were “unfounded”.
In a post on X, Tata said that the “rumours” of him being hospitalised in Mumbai were “unfounded”.
Posting a statement with the caption “Thank you for thinking of me”, he revealed that while he was undergoing medical check-ups due to his “age-related medical conditions”, there was “no cause for concern”.
“There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits,” said the 86-year-old businessman, while requesting the public and media to refrain from “spreading misinformation”.
Who is Ratan Tata?
A well-loved public figure, Ratan Tata is known for his leadership and philanthropic efforts. He served as the chairperson of Tata Sons from 1990 to 2012 and also held the position of interim chairperson from October 2016 to February 2017.
He remains in charge of the Tata Trusts, which hold great importance in India’s philanthropic scene. Tata has received the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, two prestigious Indian civilian awards, in recognition of his contributions to industry and society.
He is also highly regarded as an investor who has supported over 30 start-ups spanning various fields.
