Shogun dominates TV categories, Demi Moore delivers a moving speech

Actor Andrein Brody delivered an emotional speech as he won the Best Actor-Drama for The Brutalist. Brody dedicated his award to his parents who had to build a life from scratch after migrating to America.

Nearly 3 decades after her mother was nominated at the Golden Globes, actress Fernanda Torres won Best Actress Drama for her performance in I’m Still Here beating over favourites like Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet. She thanked her mother among others, who had been in the same room many years back for being nominated for a performance. “Art can endure,” said Torres.

It was Shogun all the way! The series took home four awards on Sunday night. Anna Sawai won the Best Television Female Actor – Drama Series Golden Globe while Shōgun won the Best Drama Series.

Netflix series Bay Reindeer won Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture as creator and lead actor Richard Gadd accepted the award along with the cast and crew of the series wich is loosely based on Gadd’s life.

Meanwhile, Hacks won Best Musical/Comedy Series and during his acceptance speech, creator of the show Paul W Downs joked and urged Kate Winslet to not indulge Jean Smart into taking shots as they have a call time of 6 AM the next morning. 

Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Golden Globe- an award that was introduced in 2023, was given to the box office smash hit musical Wicked. The film’s lead cast, director and producer went up on stage to accept the award. 

Veteran composer duo Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross won Best Score for their snazzy upbeat music in Challengers while the song ‘El Mal’ from Emilia Perez won the Best Song Golden Globe. 

Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia lost out to filmmaker Brady Corbet who won the Best Director Golden Globe for the film The Brutalist. The film that he co-wrote with his wife, actress Mona Fastvold featured Adrian Brody and Felicity Jones in the lead and took 7 years to make. 

Meanwhile, the animated film Flow won the Best Picture – Animated Golden Globe. 

Sebastian Stan won the Best Actor Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy for his role in A Different Man.

Demi Moore moved everyone in the room with her moving speech as she took home the Best Actress Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy for her comeback film The Substance. “I’ve been doing this for 45 years and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor,” said the emotional Moore as she accepted the award. “Today I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness and of the love that is driving me, and for the gift of doing something I love, and being reminded that I do belong,” she added.

Colin Farrel’s critically acclaimed role in and as The Penguin not just won hearts but also a Golden Globe in the Best Actor-Limited series category. Farrell thanked the craft service along with the cast and crew of the series as he accepted the award on stage.

Critically acclaimed Emilia Perez won the Best Non-English Language Film Golden Globe. India’s All We Imagine As Light was also nominated in the same category. 

This is the second award for the film at this year’s award ceremony. Zoe Saldana won the Best Supporting Actress for the same film, earlier in the night.

Peter Straughan took home the Best Screenplay-Motion Picture award for his work in The Conclave which stars Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci. 

Meanwhile, the incredible Ali Wong won her second Globe- this time for being the Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television.

Jeremy Allen White took home the Best Actor-Musical or Comedy award for The Bear which perhaps was the only award for the critically acclaimed series this year.

Baby Reindeer’s breakout star Jessica Gunning’s stupendous performance as the psychotic Martha gets a Golden Globe nod. Gunning won the Best Supporting Actress- Television award.

Meanwhile Shogun took home the second award for the night as Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano wins Best Supporting Actor-Television award. The actor, happily intriduced himself on stage and said, “Wow, you don’t know. I am an actor from Japan. I am very happy to win this award.” 

After dominating Globes past years with wins for his performance in TV series Succession, Kieran Culkin wins the Best Supporting Actor for the film A Real Pain. 

Meanwhile, the splendid Hiroyuki Sanada won his first Golden Globe in the Best Actor Television-Drama for critically acclaimed TV Series Shogun.

Legendary actress Jean Smart won her second Golden Globe award. The actress won Best Actress TV Series- Musical or Comedy for the series Hacks.

Actress Zoe Saldana wins the first award of the night as she picked up her Best Supporting Actress award for the film Emilia Perez. An emotional Zoe, who on her first Golden Globe, dedicated her award to her cast and crew of Emilia Perez. 

Host Nikki Glaser kicks off the ceremony with a hilarious monologue and throws shade to Joker 2’s dismall performance this year. From Timothee Chalamet’s mustache to Selena Gomez’s faince Benny Blanco- Glaser spared no one in her opening monologue. 

Stars have already started arriving for the 2025 Golden Globes which is taking place Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The red carpet is already witnessing a bevy of stars. From Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae to Emma Stone to Kate Winslet to Cate Blanchett, stars are walking the red carpet dressed in their designer best.

Comedian Nikki Glaser is set to make her hosting debut at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. Typically, the host begins the awards night with a monologue that looks back at the year that has been in the world of showbiz. Some jokes and jibes at the expense of stars are always made. But Glaser will be keeping out any kind of joke about Blake Lively and her ongoing legal tussle with her co-star and It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. Glaser in an interview last week also mentioned that she would not be making jokes about President-elect Donald Trump. She said, ”People are just tired of hearing about it, even though it’s looming and it’s in the air.”

All eyes are on Payal Kapadia, whose film All We Imagine As Light has secured a nomination in the Best Film category along with award-season favourite Emilia Perez. Kapadia is also in the running for her work in the Best Director category. The film created history last year, becoming the first Indian film to win the prestigious Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. The Malayalam/English/Hindi film is an Indo-French production and marks Kapadia’s debut as a feature film director. If Payal wins tonight, then she will be the first Indian director to be winning a Golden Globe.
